Brandy Maina of the "kuna kuna" hit song is in trouble with some netizens. Apparently, a tweet that is doing rounds in social media circles hints that the artist will only do collaborations with a few select elite Kenyan artists this year.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Unless it&#39;s Nyash, Kinoti, Watendawili, Femi or Fathermoh, I&#39;m not doing any more collaborations this year.<br>Leave me out of interviews as well. ♡</p>&mdash; Brandy.Maina (@Brandy_Maina) <a href="https://twitter.com/Brandy_Maina/status/1635046085604577282?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 12, 2023</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

The tweet has rubbed some of her fans the wrong way and they have trolled him for the better part of the day.

"Kuna Kuna" hit song is a club banger and household hit song that propelled a Kisumu-based chief to fame when a reveler recorded him dancing to the tune.

A Twitter user by the name Gathoni K is wondering how the artist is setting out standards and yet she has a number of shows that are lined up.

She is not alone. Edzil Saliba feels that the artist is fumbling while she should be making good use of free promotions from the media, more so now that she is just starting her musical journey.

However, on Brandy realizing that her tweet has been taken the wrong way she had intended, she has issued another statement to control the damage.

"I can tell the people who are upset about my tweet are not artists because they don't understand the back end of it. There is a time for everything. I've been doing collaborations for a while now, and I really haven't taken the time to work on my solo project. If I do a song with you, I'll push it to the best of my ability, and that takes time, money, and effort that I think I need to preserve for my EP for the rest of the year."

Nonetheless, the drama is making her gain a popularity milestone with all the major news houses focusing their attention on her. And despite the negative sentiments by a section of social media users, Brandy has curved a name for herself in Kenya's entertainment landscape as a dancer, performer, producer, and respected songwriter. She has also been featured by Nadia Mukami in her latest song, Superwoman.
