They say that revenge is best-served cold seems like Chris Rock is a veteran student of that school of thought. In fact, it has taken him about a year to hit back at the movie star after everyone had assumed that their Oscars incident had been forgotten.

At first, after the (in)famous slap incident, both Chris Rock and his assailant, Will Smith issued separate apologies for the incident. As a matter of fact, Chris never pressed for criminal charges against Will Smith and when he was invited for interviews on the incident, he turned them down. He just cooled off and pondered over the situation with a perfect plan of pulling it out like a hat trick when the Oscars are around the corner.

In one of the recent fiery Netflix Comedy Special that was filmed at Baltimore’s Hippodrome theater, Chris Rock has not only dissected the incident, but he has also gone a notch higher and gone headlong personal with the Smiths for about seven minutes.

“I am not a victim baby…You will never see me on Oprah or Gayle crying. You will never see it. Never going to happen,” says Chris Rock.

At first, Chris distances himself from the attack. He says everybody knows that the physical attack was a diversion by Will Smith because his wife had hurt him way more when she confessed to Will Smith on her live show Red Table Talk about an affair she had referred to as an “entanglement” with musician August Alsina.

He also explains why everybody thought that he had picked on Will Smith’s wife for the joke but he says it had been a long joke that Jada had started.

In 2016, Jada requested Chris Rock to boycott hosting the Oscars.

“Years ago, his wife said I should quit the Oscars. I shouldn’t host 'cause her man didn’t get nominated for Concussion,” Chris rants. He then asks the audience if it had not been a joke for Jada to have advised him (Chris) a grown a** man to quit his job just because his man had not been nominated for that year’s Oscars.

“That’s how it is – she starts it, I finish it, OK? That’s what the f*** happened. Nobody is picking on her. She started this s***.

The comedy special has evoked a lot of reactions online and Chris’s attacks on his family have hurt Will Smith. But as Buddha quotes, “You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger.”

It only took a single slap by Will Smith when he was at the peak of his career. However, the damage that slap did to his acting career will sting him for the rest of his life.

On reflecting on why he never retaliated after he was slapped, Chris said he didn’t because he had been raised properly by his parents. Before signing out and dropping his mic, this is what he had to say:

“And you know what my parents taught me? Don’t fight in front of white people.”
